About Our Glazed Garden Pots

Colour and finish are usually how people choose glazed pots, allowing containers to anchor a scheme or accent a patio, but glazing changes how a pot performs, too. The non-porous surface seals the clay and reduces how much moisture evaporates through the walls, so handmade glazed pots hold soil moisture more evenly than raw terracotta, useful for plants that dislike drying out between waterings. Double kiln firing hardens the glaze further, giving these garden pots the strength and frost resistance to stay outdoors through a London winter without cracking. Roots still get the air they need through the open top and any drainage holes, so the trade off with unglazed terracotta is smaller than it first appears.

Colour is where glazed pots earn their keep in a garden design. Blue and celadon green read as fresh and Mediterranean, moss green and antique grey sit quietly alongside planting, and matt black gives a sharp, contemporary edge to a modern courtyard. Shapes run from the classic egg pot and belly pot through to conical and cylinder designs, so the same colour palette can furnish a whole scheme, from a single statement urn to a matched pair either side of a doorway.

Good drainage still matters with a glazed pot: check for a drainage hole, and raise the pot on a set of pot feet to keep water moving freely away from the base rather than pooling beneath it in winter. A matching saucer catches any runoff indoors or on a hard patio surface. Our full range of glazed garden pots is in stock for delivery or collection.

Glazed Outdoor Plant Pots Popular Questions

Are glazed garden pots frost resistant? -
Yes. Our glazed pots are double kiln fired, which hardens the glaze and gives them the strength to stay outdoors year round without cracking in frost. Raising a pot on feet further reduces the risk, since it lets any water drain away rather than freezing and expanding beneath it.
How do pot feet help improve drainage? +
Pot feet raise a planter just clear of the ground, so excess water can escape freely instead of pooling under the base. That protects the roots from sitting in cold, wet compost over winter and extends the life of both the pot and the surface it stands on.
What sizes and shapes are available in your range? +
The range covers small bowls suited to a windowsill or step, through to large statement pots and tall planters for a specimen shrub or small tree. Shapes include classic eggs, cylinders, conical designs and rimmed troughs, in colours from Mediterranean blue to matt black.
