There comes a point in winter when the view from the kitchen window turns mostly grey: wet railings, bare branches, the neighbour's bins. Fitzroy's Folly is our answer to that. It's a window box planted by hand at Boma in Kentish Town, made to order, with three plants chosen to look good together while the rest of the garden goes quiet.
White cyclamen brings clean, bright flowers that hold their own on a dull afternoon. Beside it, the brassica adds ruffled leaves with real texture, and the skimmia gives a neat, glossy evergreen backbone that keeps the whole box looking full.
Set it on a windowsill, a balcony ledge or by the front door, somewhere you'll pass it every day. It's a small thing, but coming home in the dark to a flash of white and green on the step makes a difference. The folly is in the name only.
Give it a bright spot outdoors, sheltered from harsh wind if you can. Water when the top of the compost feels dry, less in cold, damp spells, and don't let it sit in water. No feeding needed over winter. In a hard frost, move it against a wall or somewhere sheltered. As cyclamen flowers fade, twist the stems away cleanly from the base, and pick off yellowing leaves. In spring, the skimmia can move to a larger outdoor pot or a shady border, ready for the window box to be replanted. Always fix window boxes securely on sills and ledges.

Items bought in-store or collected can be returned directly at the garden centre. If you would like us to collect a return and it is in good condition (e.g. you have changed your mind), it must be in its original condition, and the same delivery cost will apply for the return.
Plants marked as reduced for end-of-season clearance are non-refundable, as they are sold specifically to clear stock. This does not apply to special offers or multibuy promotions, which are eligible for returns as per our standard terms.
