Quick Guide

• Unique, antler-shaped fronds.

• Epiphytic fern; thrives mounted on boards.

• Prefers bright, indirect light.

• Adds a natural, sculptural element to interiors.

• Low-maintenance; perfect for fern enthusiasts.

The Platycerium bifurcatum, commonly known as the Staghorn Fern, is a truly unique and eye-catching indoor plant, celebrated for its distinctive, antler-shaped fronds that bring a touch of the wild into your home. Native to tropical regions, this epiphytic fern naturally grows on trees, making it an ideal candidate for mounting on boards or hanging baskets, where its sculptural form can be fully appreciated.

The Staghorn Fern is perfect for adding a natural, organic element to modern and rustic interiors alike. Its unusual appearance makes it a striking focal point in any room, whether it’s displayed on a wall, in a bathroom, or suspended from the ceiling in a stylish basket. Pair it with other epiphytes like orchids or air plants to create a lush, vertical garden that maximizes space and visual impact.

This fern typically reaches up to 90 cm in height and 60 cm in spread, making it a manageable size for most indoor spaces. It is relatively low-maintenance, requiring less frequent watering than many other ferns, and it’s well-suited to bright, indirect light conditions. To highlight its unique shape and texture, consider mounting it on a wooden board or displaying it in a minimalist, natural-toned basket.

Plant Care Guide

Platycerium bifurcatum thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions. Water moderately, allowing the mounting medium or soil to dry out slightly between waterings. The fern prefers high humidity, so misting it occasionally or placing it in a humid environment, such as a bathroom, can be beneficial. Feed with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer every month during the growing season. Avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot. For best results, mount the Staghorn Fern on a board or place it in a well-draining basket to mimic its natural growing conditions.
