Quick Guide

  • Rich pink winter flowers

  • Evergreen year-round foliage

  • Thrives in partial shade

  • Ideal for woodland planting

  • Excellent early pollinator plant

Helleborus × hybridus ‘Strawberry Moon’ is a striking Lenten Rose with richly coloured blooms in deep rose-pink to strawberry tones, centred with prominent pale yellow stamens. Flowering from late winter into early spring, it provides vivid colour at a time when the garden is often subdued, while its glossy evergreen foliage maintains structure throughout the year.

Perfect for shaded borders, woodland gardens, and underplanting beneath deciduous trees, ‘Strawberry Moon’ also performs well in containers near entrances or patios where its winter flowers can be appreciated up close. It combines beautifully with snowdrops, cyclamen, pulmonaria, early narcissus, ferns, and other hellebores in complementary tones.

This cultivar is valued for its outward-facing flowers, making the colour more visible in the garden compared to older hellebore forms. Reliable, long-lived, and quietly dramatic, it is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking winter interest with minimal ongoing maintenance.

Plant Care Guide

Grow Helleborus ‘Strawberry Moon’ in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. It prefers partial shade, though it will tolerate full sun if the soil remains consistently moist. Water regularly during establishment, particularly in dry spells.

In late winter, remove tired or damaged leaves to reveal the flowers and improve air circulation. Apply a mulch of garden compost or well-rotted organic matter in spring to support healthy growth. Feeding is generally unnecessary, though a balanced fertiliser can be applied lightly if required. Once established, hellebores are resilient, long-lived plants needing very little intervention.

Items bought in-store or collected can be returned directly at the garden centre. If you would like us to collect a return and it is in good condition (e.g. you have changed your mind), it must be in its original condition, and the same delivery cost will apply for the return.

Plants marked as reduced for end-of-season clearance are non-refundable, as they are sold specifically to clear stock. This does not apply to special offers or multibuy promotions, which are eligible for returns as per our standard terms.
