Quick Guide
- Fragrant lemon-scented leaves perfect for cooking
- Evergreen, compact, bushy form
- Delicate pale purple-pink flowers in summer
- Loves full sun and well-drained soil
- Easy, drought-tolerant, low-maintenance herb
Lemon thyme is an evergreen culinary herb treasured for its wonderfully fragrant, lemon-scented leaves. The compact, bushy plant produces small pale purple-pink flowers throughout spring and summer, drawing pollinators to the garden. Use the fresh leaves in cooking, teas or infusions for their bright citrus flavour. This is an exceptionally easy herb to grow, tolerating poor, well-drained soils and drought once established. It thrives in full sun and dislikes wet or waterlogged conditions. Ideal for herb gardens, containers, rock gardens and coastal areas.
Plant Guide
Plant in full sun in neutral to alkaline, well-drained soil. Water during the growing season but allow soil to dry between waterings; it dislikes wet roots. Once established, it's drought-tolerant and needs little feeding. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain a compact shape. In colder areas, protect from severe winter frost or grow in a container that can be moved to shelter during hard frosts. Harvest leaves regularly during the growing season to encourage bushiness.
