Winter is when a window box earns its place. The Kenwood Planter is put together for the months when the garden goes quiet and you mostly see it from indoors, through the kitchen window or on your way out the front door.
It's an aged-finish window box, planted by hand at Boma in Kentish Town with six plants chosen to work together. A hellebore and a primrose bring flowers to the darker days. A hard fern, a skimmia and a variegated euonymus keep things green and full, with a good mix of glossy, leathery and patterned leaves. Dwarf fountain grass adds soft, low tufts that shift in the breeze.
Set it on a sill, along the edge of a balcony or at the foot of the front steps, where it'll greet you on grey mornings. Most of the planting is happy in partial shade, which suits plenty of London fronts and courtyards that rarely see full sun. It arrives finished, so all you need to do is choose the spot.
Product Care Guide
Place it somewhere with good light or partial shade, out of strong wind. Water when the top of the compost feels dry; window boxes can dry out even in winter, especially under eaves. In very cold spells, move it against a wall or into a sheltered corner. Feed lightly in spring. Snip off faded hellebore and primrose flowers to keep it tidy, and when the season moves on, swap tired plants for fresh ones or move the evergreens into the garden. Raise it slightly so water drains freely.

Items bought in-store or collected can be returned directly at the garden centre. If you would like us to collect a return and it is in good condition (e.g. you have changed your mind), it must be in its original condition, and the same delivery cost will apply for the return.
Plants marked as reduced for end-of-season clearance are non-refundable, as they are sold specifically to clear stock. This does not apply to special offers or multibuy promotions, which are eligible for returns as per our standard terms.
