Shepherd's Winter Bowl brings a bit of open hillside to your front step. Mixed heather sits at its heart, with a polypody fern for feathery green, two small ivies to spill over the rim and a white cyclamen that catches what light there is on a short winter afternoon. It's a natural-looking mix, more country walk than formal display, and it holds its own when the rest of the garden has gone quiet.
The low bowl shape makes this outdoor planter easy to place. Set it on the front step to greet visitors, on a balcony table you can see from the sofa, or on a courtyard wall where it sits at eye level. It's wide and settled rather than tall, so it looks at home in small spaces and doesn't fight with the view.
Each one is planted by hand to order at Boma in Kentish Town, so it's ready to put out and enjoy straight away. A garden plant pot that's done the work for you, and something cheerful to come home to on a dark evening.
Put it somewhere bright, out of the harshest wind; the fern and ivy are happy with some shade. Water when the top of the compost feels dry, aiming at the soil rather than the cyclamen's leaves, and check it after dry, windy spells. Winter plants need little feeding. Raise the bowl on pot feet so it drains freely, and in a hard frost move it close to the house wall. Pick off faded cyclamen flowers with a twist from the base. When the display tires, the heather, ivy and fern can go into the garden or a bigger pot.

Items bought in-store or collected can be returned directly at the garden centre. If you would like us to collect a return and it is in good condition (e.g. you have changed your mind), it must be in its original condition, and the same delivery cost will apply for the return.
Plants marked as reduced for end-of-season clearance are non-refundable, as they are sold specifically to clear stock. This does not apply to special offers or multibuy promotions, which are eligible for returns as per our standard terms.
