Quick Guide
We plant each one to match the photo as closely as we can. If a plant or pot isn't available, we'll swap in a close match so the overall look is the same.
- Low terracotta bowl with a natural, hillside look
- Mixed heather for soft, fine texture
- White cyclamen catches the short afternoon light
- Polypody fern adds green, deeply cut fronds
- Two trailing ivies soften the rim
- Fern and ivy cope with some shade
- Heather, ivy and fern can move to the garden
More country walk than formal display. Shepherd's Winter Bowl brings mixed heather, a polypody fern and two trailing ivies together in a low terracotta bowl, with a white cyclamen to catch what light there is on a short afternoon.
The fern's deeply cut fronds and the heather's fine texture make it look gathered rather than arranged, which is the point. It's wide and low rather than tall, so it won't block a view or crowd a small space.
Set it on a balcony table you can see from the sofa, on a low courtyard wall or along a wide, sturdy sill. The ivy and fern don't mind a bit of shade, which helps in the many London courtyards that only get the sun for part of the day.
Plant Care
Put it somewhere bright and out of the harshest wind; the fern and ivy cope with some shade. Water when the compost is dry to the touch, aiming at the soil rather than the cyclamen's leaves, and check it after dry, windy spells, as heather dislikes drying out. Little feeding is needed in winter. In a hard frost, move it close to the house wall, and raise the bowl on pot feet. Twist faded cyclamen flowers away from the base. When the display tires, the heather, ivy and fern can go into the garden or a bigger pot.

Third-Party Couriers
For London postcodes outside a 5-mile radius of our Kentish Town garden centre, we may occasionally use a third-party courier for delivery. In these cases, we try our best to still deliver the items in the requested delivery time slot but please be aware that occasionally this may not always be possible and is out of our control.
Delivery Discrepancies
Please check your order as soon as it arrives. If there is any discrepancy — such as a missing, incorrect, or damaged item — please contact us within 48 hours of delivery so we can put things right. Returns Policy
If you need to return an item, please contact us within 14 days of receipt to arrange a return or exchange. Products must be in their original condition and packaging. Plants may be non-refundable unless they arrive damaged or defective.
Items bought in-store or collected can be returned directly at the garden centre. If you would like us to collect a return and it is in good condition (e.g. you have changed your mind), it must be in its original condition, and the same delivery cost will apply for the return.
Plants marked as reduced for end-of-season clearance are non-refundable, as they are sold specifically to clear stock. This does not apply to special offers or multibuy promotions, which are eligible for returns as per our standard terms.
