Rhododendron ‘Polaris’ is a refined evergreen shrub known for its generous domed trusses of soft shell-pink flowers, opening in mid to late spring. Each bloom fades gently towards a pale throat, often freckled with warm golden markings, creating depth and delicacy within the flower head. The petals are slightly ruffled, giving the plant a graceful, almost luminous presence when in full display.

Its rich, dark green foliage provides handsome structure throughout the year, making it valuable even outside the flowering season. ‘Polaris’ works beautifully in woodland gardens, acid borders or as part of a mixed shrub scheme. It pairs particularly well with white camellias, Pieris, ferns, hostas and spring bulbs such as white narcissus to highlight its soft pink tones.

Suitable for both borders and large containers (with ericaceous compost), this variety brings a calm, elegant character to gardens across the UK.

 

Plant Care Guide

Plant Rhododendron ‘Polaris’ in partial shade or dappled sunlight, sheltered from harsh winds and strong midday sun. It prefers moist, well-drained, humus-rich acidic soil. Avoid chalky or alkaline conditions.

 

Water regularly during dry periods, especially in its first few years. Apply a mulch of bark or leaf mould in spring to conserve moisture and maintain soil acidity. Feed after flowering with an ericaceous fertiliser to encourage strong bud formation for the following season.

Minimal pruning is required. Remove spent flower trusses carefully after blooming and trim only to shape if necessary. Avoid deep cultivation around the roots, as rhododendrons are shallow-rooted.

Hardy across most UK regions when planted in suitable conditions.

Delivery Timeframes

We aim to deliver orders within 2–4 working days. During peak seasons, such as Christmas, delivery times may vary slightly due to increased demand. We will keep you informed at every stage.

Click & Collect

We encourage you to collect from our garden centre in Kentish Town — it saves on delivery costs and gives you the chance to see our full range of plants and products in person.

All Click & Collect orders must be collected within 7 days of being ready, unless a later date has been arranged with us in advance. If an order is not collected within this time, it will be cancelled and a refund issued.

Returns Policy

If you need to return an item, please contact us within 14 days of receipt to arrange a return or exchange. Products must be in their original condition and packaging. Plants may be non-refundable unless they arrive damaged or defective.

Items bought in-store or collected can be returned directly at the garden centre. If you would like us to collect a return and it is in good condition (e.g. you have changed your mind), it must be in its original condition, and the same delivery cost will apply for the return.

Plants marked as reduced for end-of-season clearance are non-refundable, as they are sold specifically to clear stock. This does not apply to special offers or multibuy promotions, which are eligible for returns as per our standard terms.
