Quick Guide
- Distinctive braided trunk with glossy green leaves
- Thrives in bright, indirect light
- Easy to care for indoor tree
- Naturally purifies indoor air
- Safe for pets and children
The Money Tree is a striking tropical houseplant with a distinctive plaited stem and glossy, hand-shaped leaves. Native to Central America's rainforests, it brings an architectural element to any interior.
Position in bright, indirect light away from harsh direct sun. Water when the top 5cm of compost feels dry, typically weekly in growing season, less in winter. The plant stores water in its swollen stems, so overwatering is the most common mistake.
This is one of the easiest tropical trees to grow indoors. It tolerates lower humidity but appreciates occasional misting. Keep temperatures between 12–24°C. Feed monthly during spring and summer with balanced houseplant fertiliser.
Pachira aquatica is known for its air-purifying qualities, removing toxins like formaldehyde and benzene from indoor air. It is completely non-toxic to cats, dogs and children, making it a safe choice for busy households.
Plant Guide
Place in bright, indirect light; avoid direct sun which scorches leaves. Water when the top 5cm of soil is dry; this plant dislikes waterlogged conditions, which cause root rot at the base. Mist leaves regularly or sit the pot on a pebble tray with water for humidity. During spring and summer, feed monthly with balanced houseplant fertiliser. Repot only when roots push out of drainage holes. Prune growing tips in spring to control size and encourage a bushier shape.
