Quick Guide

  • Trained standard with elegant 80–100cm clear trunk

  • Lime-green to pink panicles from July to October

  • RHS Award of Garden Merit winner

  • Hardy H5 — suitable across most of the UK

  • Prune crown in late winter; never cut the clear stem

Hydrangea paniculata 'Limelight' presented as an elegant trained standard — the same spectacular cultivar elevated on a clear trunk of 80–100 cm for a formal, sculptural effect. A holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, this is one of Britain's most celebrated panicle hydrangeas in its most refined form.

Each year the crown produces enormous conical flowerheads that open pale lime green in July before fading through creamy white to warm pink and rose tones in autumn. Flowerheads can reach 30 cm long. Even in winter the dried papery panicles remain on the plant, adding structure to a bare garden.

The standard form is ideal for formal gardens, symmetrical plantings, patio containers, and framing pathways. Supplied with a clean trained stem of 80–100 cm, it creates immediate height and drama. Plant in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Hardy to RHS H5 throughout most of the UK.

Prune the crown back to a low framework in late winter or early spring. Do not cut the clear main stem — all pruning should be directed at the side shoots of the crown only. Stake the trunk in the first two seasons if needed.

Growing Guide

Plant in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Stake the clear trunk for the first two seasons. In late winter or early spring, prune all crown branches back to within a few buds of the permanent framework. Never prune the clear main stem. Feed in spring with a balanced fertiliser; mulch around the base to retain moisture. Water regularly in dry spells, especially in the first season.

Third-Party Couriers

For London postcodes outside a 5-mile radius of our Kentish Town garden centre, we may occasionally use a third-party courier for delivery. In these cases, we try our best to still deliver the items in the requested delivery time slot but please be aware that occasionally this may not always be possible and is out of our control.

Delivery Discrepancies

Please check your order as soon as it arrives. If there is any discrepancy — such as a missing, incorrect, or damaged item — please contact us within 48 hours of delivery so we can put things right. Returns Policy

If you need to return an item, please contact us within 14 days of receipt to arrange a return or exchange. Products must be in their original condition and packaging. Plants may be non-refundable unless they arrive damaged or defective.

Items bought in-store or collected can be returned directly at the garden centre. If you would like us to collect a return and it is in good condition (e.g. you have changed your mind), it must be in its original condition, and the same delivery cost will apply for the return.

Plants marked as reduced for end-of-season clearance are non-refundable, as they are sold specifically to clear stock. This does not apply to special offers or multibuy promotions, which are eligible for returns as per our standard terms.
