Quick Guide
- Small shamrock-shaped dark green leaves
- Trails beautifully in hanging baskets
- RHS Award of Garden Merit
- Low-maintenance and easy to grow
- Prefers shade and indirect light
Hedera helix 'Shamrock' is a distinctive evergreen ivy prized for its small, dark green leaves with three lobes resembling a shamrock or clover. This graceful trailing plant is excellent for hanging baskets, pots and as indoor foliage, bringing year-round interest with minimal effort.
Position in bright, indirect light away from direct sun, which can scorch the leaves. Water when the top two inches of soil have dried, maintaining consistent moisture without waterlogging. Provide moderate to high humidity by misting occasionally or using a humidity tray, ensuring leaves dry quickly to prevent fungal issues.
This hardy, low-maintenance ivy is ideal for cooler spots such as porches, conservatories or north-facing windowsills. Winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Plant Guide
Grow in bright, indirect light and cool conditions (ideally 15–20°C). Water when the top two inches of soil dries out; do not allow it to sit in soggy soil. Mist occasionally to maintain humidity, but allow leaves to dry quickly to prevent fungal problems. Feed monthly with diluted balanced houseplant fertiliser during spring and summer. Pinch back new growth regularly to encourage bushiness. This plant thrives in good air circulation and prefers cooler environments, making it ideal for hallways and porches. Not pet-safe; keep away from children and pets.
