Quick Guide

  • Silvery-frosted upright leaves like tarantula legs
  • Bright light lover; very low maintenance
  • Compact, slow-growing succulent; reaches 10-20cm
  • Easy care; perfect for sunny windowsills
  • South or west-facing spots ideal

This striking succulent features distinctive narrow, upright leaves cloaked in delicate silvery hairs, creating a frosted silver-green appearance. The leaves radiate outwards like the legs of a tarantula—the inspiration for its memorable name. In bright light, the foliage often develops subtle reddish tips, adding extra visual interest to this compact, slow-growing plant.

Crassula Tarantula thrives in bright, direct sunlight for several hours daily, ideally in a south or west-facing window. It's a true low-maintenance succulent: water infrequently and allow the soil to dry completely between waterings. It prefers well-draining cactus or succulent compost mixed with mineral grit for optimal drainage.

Keep temperatures between 15–26°C and avoid cold below 12°C. This plant prefers low humidity and good air circulation, so avoid misting. It's a perfect choice for beginners and anyone seeking an easy-care houseplant for a bright spot.

Important: This plant is toxic if ingested and should be kept away from pets and children.

Plant Guide

Position in bright, direct light for best colour. Water when soil is completely dry; reduce watering in winter. Use well-draining succulent compost with added grit (50-70% mineral content). Repot every 2–3 years in spring if needed. Maintain temperatures between 15–26°C and keep humidity low. Avoid touching frosted leaves, as silvery hairs protect the plant. Propagate easily from healthy stem cuttings. Feed lightly every 6–8 weeks during growing season if desired.
