Quick Guide
- Orange and yellow star flowers, summer to autumn
- Succulent, grass-like evergreen foliage
- Thrives in bright light with well-drained soil
- Drought-tolerant, minimal watering needs
- Easy-care houseplant for sunny windowsills
This South African succulent brings distinctive orange and yellow star-shaped flowers with characteristically tufted stamens, blooming from mid-summer through autumn. The plant forms attractive, low-maintenance clumps of slender, fleshy, grey-green succulent leaves.
As a houseplant, it requires bright light and well-drained soil, ideally positioned near a sunny south-facing window. Water freely during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry between waterings; reduce watering significantly in winter. This is an extremely drought-tolerant succulent, thriving in dry indoor air and requiring minimal attention — perfect for busy gardeners or those new to houseplants. Trouble-free and pest-resistant.
Plant Guide
Provide the brightest light possible, ideally full sun on a south-facing windowsill or conservatory. Water thoroughly during the growing season when the top inch of soil is dry; allow longer drying periods in autumn and winter. Use well-draining cactus or succulent compost with drainage holes. Keep above 0°C and bring any outdoor plants indoors before the first frost. Propagate easily from stem cuttings in summer, allowing them to dry for a day before inserting into dry compost.
