A pollinator-friendly garden plant
Romary Prostrate group is a low mound-forming evergreen shrub and one of the most popular garden herbs, having a wide range of culinary uses.
It is also a valuable ornamental plant being evergreen and with a long flowering season.
As a pollinator-friendly plant that flower for months in the garden, Rosemary is ideal for planting in a potted container near the kitchen.
The plant has upright spikes of purple-blue flowers from early spring to mid-summer.
The young leaves are great for flavouring roasted vegetables, and meat
Plant Care
When planting a Rosemary plant in the garden, lightly fork over to loosen the soil. Add in organic matter by digging in some Peat-free John Innes compost. Once the soil is mixed, dig a small hole with a spade and add a generous handful of Mycorrhizal fungi to the bottom of the planting hole. Place the Rosemary plant and back-fill with soil. Make sure you have not buried the plant lower in the ground than in the pot. After planting, firm the soil around the plant, so the plant's roots are in touch with the garden soil. After planting water thoroughly, make sure the soil is moist but not too wet for the first two weeks.
Winter: If planted in a container make sure the container is not sitting in waterlogged conditions during winter periods of prolonged rainfall.
Spring: Feed with a Maxicrop seaweed feed to encourage healthy new growth and flowers.
Summer: Trim after flowering to maintain plant shape and vigour. During the first season provide water in prolonged dry periods until the plant becomes established. Once established the plant will need considerably less watering.
Autumn: Trim to maintain plant shape and vigour
