Quick Guide

  • Bright cerise-pink flowers from late spring to autumn
  • Silvery-grey woolly foliage year-round
  • Hardy sterile hybrid, fully hardy UK
  • Thrives in full sun or partial shade
  • Deadhead regularly for continuous blooms

Lychnis 'Hill Grounds' is a distinctive short-lived perennial with silvery-grey woolly stems and leaves, producing bright cerise-pink flowers from late spring through autumn. Created by Janet Cropley, this sterile hybrid between L. flos-jovis and L. coronaria will not self-seed, unlike its parent species.

It reaches approximately 75cm in flower with a spread of 30–50cm. The combination of fine silvery foliage and vibrant pink blooms makes it striking in any border, rockery or container. Fully hardy throughout the UK, it thrives in full sun or partial shade and is low-maintenance once established.

Grow in well-drained soil – chalk, loam or sandy conditions suit it best. It's drought-tolerant and dislikes waterlogged or winter-wet positions. Deadhead flowers regularly to promote continuous flowering through the season. Propagate from division of established clumps or basal softwood cuttings in spring.

Plant Guide

Plant in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soil. Avoid boggy or winter-wet sites. Deadhead spent flowers regularly to extend the display. Water moderately during the growing season; once established, minimal watering is needed. Divide clumps or take softwood cuttings in spring. Watch for slugs and aphids. Generally disease-free and requires no staking or complex care.

Third-Party Couriers

For London postcodes outside a 5-mile radius of our Kentish Town garden centre, we may occasionally use a third-party courier for delivery. In these cases, we try our best to still deliver the items in the requested delivery time slot but please be aware that occasionally this may not always be possible and is out of our control.

Delivery Discrepancies

Please check your order as soon as it arrives. If there is any discrepancy — such as a missing, incorrect, or damaged item — please contact us within 48 hours of delivery so we can put things right. Returns Policy

If you need to return an item, please contact us within 14 days of receipt to arrange a return or exchange. Products must be in their original condition and packaging. Plants may be non-refundable unless they arrive damaged or defective.

Items bought in-store or collected can be returned directly at the garden centre. If you would like us to collect a return and it is in good condition (e.g. you have changed your mind), it must be in its original condition, and the same delivery cost will apply for the return.

Plants marked as reduced for end-of-season clearance are non-refundable, as they are sold specifically to clear stock. This does not apply to special offers or multibuy promotions, which are eligible for returns as per our standard terms.
