Quick Guide

  • Deep green leaves with distinctive pink veins
  • Thrives in bright, indirect light
  • Needs high humidity and moist soil
  • Perfect for terrariums and tabletops
  • Non-toxic to cats and dogs

Fittonia verschaffeltii, commonly called the Nerve Plant, is a stunning foliage houseplant prized for its intricately veined leaves. The plant features deep olive-green, broadly elliptic leaves adorned with distinctive pink vein networks, creating a striking mosaic pattern. Native to tropical rainforests, it forms a low, trailing mat perfect for terrariums, tabletops, and shelving. As an evergreen perennial houseplant, it maintains its vibrant foliage year-round. This compact plant reaches about 15cm tall and spreads to similar width, making it ideal for smaller indoor spaces. While the plant produces tiny white flowers, it is grown primarily for its spectacular leaf pattern. Fittonia verschaffeltii thrives in bright, indirect light and needs consistently moist (but not waterlogged) soil. High humidity is essential—ideally 60-80%—and the plant responds well to regular misting or placement on a pebble tray. It prefers temperatures around 70°F (21°C) and appreciates a rich, peat-free houseplant compost. With proper humidity and moisture levels, this is an easy-to-grow houseplant that brings tropical beauty indoors and makes an excellent choice for collectors and beginners alike. Non-toxic to both cats and dogs, it is a safe choice for pet-owning households.

Plant Guide

Place in bright, indirect light away from direct sun, which scorches delicate leaves. Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged—water when the top inch feels dry. Maintain high humidity (60-80%) by misting daily or using a pebble tray. Feed monthly during the growing season with diluted balanced fertiliser. Propagate readily from stem cuttings in spring or summer with 70-80% success rate. Pinch back growing tips to encourage bushier growth. If leaves wilt from low humidity, revive by misting and increasing moisture. Repot annually in spring with peat-free houseplant compost.

Third-Party Couriers

For London postcodes outside a 5-mile radius of our Kentish Town garden centre, we may occasionally use a third-party courier for delivery. In these cases, we try our best to still deliver the items in the requested delivery time slot but please be aware that occasionally this may not always be possible and is out of our control.

Delivery Discrepancies

Please check your order as soon as it arrives. If there is any discrepancy — such as a missing, incorrect, or damaged item — please contact us within 48 hours of delivery so we can put things right. Returns Policy

If you need to return an item, please contact us within 14 days of receipt to arrange a return or exchange. Products must be in their original condition and packaging. Plants may be non-refundable unless they arrive damaged or defective.

Items bought in-store or collected can be returned directly at the garden centre. If you would like us to collect a return and it is in good condition (e.g. you have changed your mind), it must be in its original condition, and the same delivery cost will apply for the return.

Plants marked as reduced for end-of-season clearance are non-refundable, as they are sold specifically to clear stock. This does not apply to special offers or multibuy promotions, which are eligible for returns as per our standard terms.
