Care Guide and Use
Optimal Plant Choices: Open terrariums are versatile, but for closed setups, steer clear of succulents and cacti. Instead, choose humidity-loving species like ferns, Venus flytraps, starfish plants, air plants, baby's tears, fittonia, golden duomoss, and strawberry begonia.
Terrarium Assembly:
-
Pre-arrange plants in the container to visualize the final look. Feel free to experiment with designs; there are no strict rules.
Step-by-Step Guide:
-
For drainage, add a one-inch layer of small stones or pebbles at the container's bottom.
-
Sprinkle 1-2 teaspoons of activated carbon.
-
Layer 1-2 inches of Terrarium Focus Repotting Mix, providing enough depth for rooting.
-
Gently remove plants from their pots, shaking off excess soil without disturbing the roots. For most plants, it's best if they were watered the day prior to planting. Create holes in the soil and carefully place the plants, working from the back to the front of the terrarium.
-
Add a final layer of decorative gravel for aesthetic appeal.
Watering Tips:
-
Because terrariums lack drainage, water sparingly and mist regularly with Houseplant Myst.
