Quick Guide
- A fast-growing evergreen climber ideal for covering an unsightly wall or fence
- Delicate bell-shaped blooms fill this climber from December until February
- Ideal for a shady location
- Nodding urn shaped bell flowers
Clematis urophylla 'Winter Beauty' is a stunning, winter-flowering climber renowned for its resilience and charm. This evergreen variety boasts a profusion of creamy-white, bell-shaped flowers that bloom from December to February, bringing a touch of elegance to the winter garden. The flowers contrast beautifully against its dark green, glossy leaves, creating a picturesque display even in the coldest months.
Ideal for planting against a trellis or garden wall, 'Winter Beauty' can also be used to adorn archways or pergolas, adding vertical interest to any garden space. Its climbing habit makes it perfect for small gardens where ground space is limited. Pair this Clematis with early spring bulbs like crocuses or snowdrops for a sequential display of colour, or alongside winter heathers for a contrasting texture.
Not only is it visually appealing, but 'Winter Beauty' is also a low-maintenance choice suitable for gardeners of all skill levels. Its evergreen nature ensures year-round interest, making it an invaluable addition to any garden.
Plant Care
Clematis urophylla 'Winter Beauty' is relatively easy to care for. It thrives best in well-drained soil and prefers a position with partial to full sunlight. During the growing season, ensure the soil remains moist but not waterlogged. Pruning is minimal, mainly to shape the plant or remove any dead or weak stems in late winter or early spring. It's hardy, but in extremely cold regions, a mulch around the base can provide extra protection against severe frost.
