Palm Trees

Palm trees are popular picks for London gardens, with varieties that are suitable for the UK climate, especially with the rise in temperatures during summer. Demand for Palm trees has risen, becoming a mainstay in the broad range of Trees that Boma stocks. Some varieties, such as Trachycarpus fortunei (Chusan palm), can also withstand cold temperatures during winter. The garden centre in Kentish Town offers local London delivery and advice on planting, suitability and tree care.

About Palm Trees

Due to popular demand, there is a high turnaround of trees, so Boma does not list all the varieties online. Trees are available in-store at the garden centre in Kentish Town for local delivery in North London. We advise visiting the garden centre as the varieties available change each week. 

Popular varieties comprise Apple trees, Pear trees, Plumb trees, and young Japanese Acers. The range consists of Olive Trees, which include Olea europaea (Olive Tree), Laurus nobilis (Bay Tree), Prunus, Malus, Eucalyptus, Euonymus, Photinia, and Ceanothus.   

Deciduous non-evergreen trees and fruit trees include Betula (Birch), Malus (Apple Trees), Pyrus (Pear Trees Concorde/Conference/Comice), Prunus (Plum Trees Victoria, Opal), Prunus (Ornamental cherry blossom), Malus (Ornamental Apple Blossom Trees), Cercis canadensis ‘Forest Pansy’(Red Bud), Prunus  (Damson Merryweather).  

Popular varieties of ornamental trees consist of malus (Crab Apple), Malus ‘Everest’, Malus ‘Aros®’, and Malus ‘Royalty’.    

Trachycarpus fortunei (Chusan palm) is a trending palm in high demand. 

Popular varieties of ornamental flowering cherry trees include Prunus ‘Amanogawa’, Prunus ‘Chocolate Ice’, Prunus ‘Kanzan’, Prunus ‘Okame’, Prunus ‘Snow Showers ‘and Prunus x sub-Autumnalis Rosea. 

The ideal time for planting trees in the garden starts at the end of September and lasts until April. Trees benefit hugely by being planted in autumn as this helps them establish a root system over autumn into winter before heat stress becomes a problem at the end of spring. 

Boma stocks trees in different pot sizes: 10litre, 12 litres, 15 litres and 20 litres.
