Wild Bird Care

Are you wanting to attract wild birds to your garden or balcony, or care for the birds already there? At Boma we recognise the benefits of wildlife in the garden and want to provide you with the best tools to feed and care for your birds!

We’ve sourced some helpful hints and tips from Gardman WIld Bird Care to get you going -

  • The BTO (British Trust for Ornithology) recommend year round feeding; in autumn/winter when food is scarce and in spring/summer when parents need a plentiful supply to nurture their young.

  • Put out feed twice a day, once in the morning and again in the afternoon to ensure your garden birds have a constant supply of food.

  • Use a selection of seed blends and suets to attract a variety of species.

  • Make water available year round for birds to drink and bathe, ensuring it doesn’t freeze over winter.

  • Hygiene is important. Prevent bacteria build up by cleaning feeders and feeding areas with mild disinfectant, removing bird droppings, leftovers and wet food.

  • Reposition feeders regularly to stop food and bacteria build up.
