Garden Design Process

Initial Consultation and Design Brief

The purpose of our first contact is to listen to your ideas and requirements. We will offer general suggestions, discuss example budgets and explain the process from design through to completion. From this initial meeting a design brief and the objectives will be determined. Each consultation normally lasts 1- 1.5 hours.

Site Survey and Appraisal

In order to produce a design, a thorough survey of the site is needed. We will investigate the local context of the site and appraise the factors that may be important for the design. Professional surveyors may be used for large and topographically complicated sites.

Design Concept

Design concept is a key step in the creative process and is very important to the integrity of the design. The concept is based on the factors that make and influence the site and surroundings. Designing without concept often results in a design which is not well connected to the needs of the client and the natural environment of the site. Producing a design concept is a creative process that involves gathering ideas from the environment and using creative thinking to transform them into shapes and spaces.
